General biodiversity monitoring

Programs that allow users to report observations of any taxa are becoming more and more common. We provide links to programs but don't currently work directly with these programs. If you know of a program we're missing, please email Dr Ries [leslie "dot" ries "at" georgetown "dot" edu].  Some key programs are:

iNaturalist

Project Noah

Observado

iSpot

Biodiversity Monitoring and Assessment Project (Egypt)- possibly defunct

There is also a network of "Bioblitzes" that endeavor to catalog as many species from as many taxa as possible in 24 hours.  Bioblitzes are not coordinated, but Wikipedia maintains a list of current and past Bioblitz programs.  Many Bioblitzes now collect data on the iNaturalist platform.
